The Science Symposium and Art Show will be held on Tuesday, April 26th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Grades K-8 will all participate in some capacity. As in past years, the science symposium will include student in grades 4-7; however, this year we will be including an Art and STEM display, which will include students in grades K-3.

Grade 8 will be the only class doing a traditional individual science fair project. Each student will be presenting his or her project results to parents and students as they walk around the Symposium. As in the past, Grade 8 students will be responsible for researching and carrying out an original experiment on their own. Students will create a presentation/display board that highlights their research and findings. Students’ projects will be judged by a panel of science teachers and ribbons will be awarded for excellence.

Students in grades 4-7 will be creating display boards that highlight experiments and topics that were covered this year in their science classes. Students will work in small groups to complete this IN- SCHOOL project. Students will demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of their topics at the symposium.

To prepare for this evening, students in grades 4-7 are asked to bring two glue sticks. Display boards and construction paper will be provided. Students are welcome to bring in decorative letters or embellishments but no glitter will be permitted.

If any parent would like to help prepare for this evening, please contact Mrs. Sopira or Mrs. Vandenbos. Help will be needed to hang student artwork on Friday April 22nd after school. Help will also be needed for clean-up the evening of the symposium.

We look forward to an exciting evening that highlights our students’ creativity and knowledge. Please contact Mrs. Vandenbos at or Mrs. Sopira at if you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help.
