Celebrating the Life of Sister Johanna Rado
Sr. Johanna Rado, 91, from Holy Spirit Convent, Pequannock, NJ, entered eternal life on Monday, August 8, 2016, in St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, Morristown, N.J.
The wake and Mass of Christian burial for Sr. Johanna Rado will be held on Thursday, August 11 in the St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, 455 Western Avenue, Morristown, NJ.
The Prayer Gathering will begin at 2:00PM, with Fr. John Tarantino presiding, and will be followed by the wake. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 4:00PM with Fr. Al Lampron presiding. Interment will follow the liturgy at the Ave Maria Cemetery. All are welcome and encouraged to remain for the repast at Villa Walsh to commemorate and celebrate Sr. Johanna’s friendship, her love of God and His church, and her life of selfless, exemplary service in the Catholic faith.
Sr. Johanna entered the community of the Religious Teachers Filippini in February 1944, dedicating herself to a life in God’s service, while focusing on education and formation of youth, and mentoring of Catholic educators. Her legacy is her devoted commitment to Catholic education and her achievement of excellence in teaching and administration in Catholic schools.
In 2014, Holy Spirit School instituted the Sr. Johanna Rado Award in her honor on the occasion of her 70th Anniversary as a Religious Teacher Filippini. Sister Johanna was the first 8th grade teacher and the second principal of Holy Spirit School. Sister Johanna consistently exemplified passionate Christian values as a spiritual leader, a faith-filled role model, and a steadfast advocate for Catholic Education.
