Sister Marie is sponsoring our school so that we can have a dog sculpture in the Dog Daze of Summer, Boonton, NJ. We are very excited to be part of this community service art event.

Here are the details:

The Dog Daze of Summer public art installation showcases artists’ and now students custom designs on fiberglass dogs (for the artists’) plaster for students. The mission is to bring the arts and community together to make a difference for animals in need. This is the third year for Dog Daze and it has raised awareness and funds for The Seeing Eye, Eleventh Hour Rescue, and Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter helping them to continue their incredible services to our community. Over the past two years, Dog Daze has drawn thousands of spectators to Boonton to experience these amazing art installations.

The sculptures are displayed on Main Street, Boonton from the first weekend in June until Labor Day. There is a Sponsor and Artist’s Concept Reception on Wednesday, Feb. 4th at Speakeasy Art Gallery in Boonton from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Dogs will be handed out to artists soon after this event.

Our dog will be a plaster Labrador which will be titled “Chocolate Lab.” We will be using any types of candy wrappers that contain chocolate and then decoupaging these on our plaster dog. If you happen to like chocolate, please save the wrappers and send them into school. hey can be put in the Art Room where a box will be placed for these wrappers.

We are so every excited about this event!
