The pumpkins are carved, the costumes are picked and candy is ready to be eaten… that can only mean one thing… Halloween has arrived at Holy Spirit School!

All children in grades K-4 are permitted to dress up in Halloween costumes for the entire day on Monday, October 31st. Grades 5 – 8, if they would like, can also dress – if they choose not to, we ask that they wear Halloween colors – orange, black, green, purple, etc. if possible to keep with the spirit of Halloween. Please follow the costume guidelines listed below:

* INAPPROPRIATE/VIOLENT COSTUMES (HORROR, EVIL, ETC.), NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND AND NO OVERLY LONG DRESSES/COSTUMES/ROBES SO CHILDREN DO NOT TRIP WALKING UP/DOWN STAIRS.

In addition to the Halloween Parade, we will also be having, HOLY SPIRIT’S ANNUAL HALLOWEEN TRUNK OR TREAT which will begin at 2:00 PM in the parking lot directly in-front of the school. This is an exciting event for both students and parents! The children trick or treat to each car. We ask each family to send in “treats” to the school office with your name and child’s grade to be divided amongst the cars. Since we have many children in our school who are allergic to nuts and peanuts, we ask that you avoid sending in any candy or treats that contain nuts or peanuts, are processed in a facility that processes nuts or peanuts or contains traces of nuts. This information is located on the ingredient label of the snack item bag. Examples of “safe snacks” include Junior Mints, Milk Duds, Whoppers, Twizzlers, Wise chips and pretzels or non-food items such as stickers, etc.

Parents are encouraged to decorate their cars, play music and even dress up themselves. Due to space limitations, we will only permit 25 cars to participate – this will be on a first come, first serve basis. Since space is limited, we encourage parents to join together and pick one car to decorate, so everyone can participate and chip in and share in the expense. We want this to be fun for the kids, so please feel free to go all out with your decorations!

If you would like to participate, please fill out the below information and submit to school, NO LATER THAN, MONDAY, OCTOBER 24th. EVERYONE is invited and is encouraged to come and enjoy… parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. Come out and celebrate Halloween with Holy Spirit School! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Joanne Diorio, the Class Parent Coordinator (201- 410-8118).
